Oh people! What glory and grief there is to this truth. We may experience life’s tracks together, but when we remember we do so individually. Big sigh!
Why? because as a grandmother I am just now figuring this out. I had no idea how I would rely on the merciful hearts of my children as they remember their childhood differently from their parents. I did not know I could not influence HOW they remembered their lives. I can only choose what I would hold onto in my own memories. And sometimes… sometimes not even that.
This idea, along with many others, is what my Art is all about. Forgiving what we know we cannot control. Loving with perseverance in spite of struggles. Following through with obedience when we aren’t even certain if it is Obedience. Moving forward when the water is murky. That is love.

Just look at the memories hanging on this clothesline! I just listened to Charlie Kirk on Instagram. He was talking about how we must never allow our actions to be governed by our feelings. So right!
Reader, you may not even know who he is or what he stood for, but listen to these next words. “Our actions must be determined by our values.” Do you hear it? If you love God and others, then your actions will be governed by this love. We decide what we love and then we act. Be wise and not foolish:
Some words on the subject from Google 🙂
Wisdom and foolishness
- Proverbs 14:16: “A wise man fears the Lord and shuns evil, but a fool is hotheaded and reckless”.
- Proverbs 13:20: “He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm”.
- Proverbs 26:4-5: “Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you yourself will be just like him. Answer a fool according to his folly, or he will be wise in his own eyes”.
- 1 Corinthians 3:19: “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God”.
Love and wisdom
- 1 Corinthians 1:18: “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God”.
- 1 Corinthians 1:27: “But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise…”.
- James 3:17: “But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere”.
Foolishness and love
- Proverbs 9:8: “Do not rebuke a scoffer, lest he hate you; rebuke a wise man, and he will love you”.
- Matthew 5:22: “But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment…”.
- 1 Corinthians 13:4-7: This passage, often called the “love chapter,” describes the characteristics of love. Love is patient, kind, does not envy, etc. It can be contrasted with the foolishness of worldly wisdom and the self-serving nature of foolish actions.
Choose wisely. Choose love.
