Today I came up against a scary thought, “What if the battle for our minds is too hard? What if we just can’t win because the attacks on our thoughts are too constant, too relentless, too powerful?”
Galatians 6:9 9 So we must not grow weary in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not give up.
We will grow weary of fighting the thoughts that assail our minds, we will. However, we must NEVER give up. Though the battle for our minds is common to all of us, for some it is more intense. For some of us when the seeds of truth are planted in our minds the garden is immediately assaulted with a flock of crows to rip up every morsel leaving only the weeds of lies to rumble in our heads. Wow! What do we do? One step is to use our brain colander.
This is not my idea. I stole it from Kay Arthur who called it our “thought colander”. Every time we are inundated with anxious thoughts or critical thoughts or just unbelieving thoughts let’s sift them through this colander. If the thoughts are heavy thin and negative they will run through the Phillipians 4:8 sieve. But, if our thoughts are like gold flakes, they will remain in the sieve to then change what we do and how we do it. Are our thoughts:
True,
Honorable,
Just,
Pure,
Lovely,
Commendable,
of Excellence,
Worthy of Praise?
WELL, may the Father fill us with these thoughts so we can fight for our minds to think about these things!
Freedom to think what we want! I am just saying.
We are free in Christ to
I totally copied this from my friend Susan Sullivan, who writes a daily devo-moment. “Jesus himself is the truth that sets us free. He is the source of truth, the perfect standard of what is right. He frees us from the consequences of sin, from self-deception, and from deception by Satan. He shows us clearly the way to eternal life with God. Thus Jesus does not give us freedom to do what we want but freedom to follow God.”
John 8:32 “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
Though it is harder for some of us than it is for other, we are still all able to… SO, Let us persevere in our thought-battle today because we CAN! We are free to choose our thoughts! Yeah, baby!!!!
